Week 6 -Last Week in China, so sad

This week we spent time working on our very last party, graduation/farewell party. Also two new workers have arrived here to follow up with our readers from LST,(Ryan Campbell and Michael Owens). We are so happy that they are going to continue to read the Bible with our readers. We have been giving English/Chinese Bibles away to our readers and giving them special American gifts. All of our students have been so nice and we have received gifts so many Chinese gifts from them. We just want to thank every single person that helped us get here. And thank you for following us on our blogsite. It has been an amazing trip. We got the chance to actually plant the seed of Jesus here with our students because they didnt know about God.

here is a paragragh from each of us

Melvina-"Wow this trip has been so inspiritual to me to continue working in China. I really felt like I was needed here because our students didnt know about Jesus before we came. The city (Xiamen) and the people were so cool. Our students took such good care of us, always being our tours guides and making sure we had what we needed. It is unreal, how kind everyone has been here. I just want to say that If you are thinking about doing a mission trip, come to China. This country really needs missionaries to spread the Word of Jesus Christ. 2 billion people that dont know about God, the time is now to start spreading the Word."

T-"Through Let's Start Talking, my team has been able to spiritual feed Jimei, China with the Word of God. It was a wonderful experience to be able to share God's love with this college city. I know God will change lives by the seed thoughts that were left through the LST ministry. I encourage other Christians who are thinking about missions to consider China because there is a strong need for the people to be exposed to The Greatness of our God."

Jessica- "I personally, have been so blessed by this trip and I am so thankful to God and everyone whose donations and support helped me get there. Also, thank you to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers while we were gone."

5th Week in China

Things have been amazing thus far here in Xiamen, China. Many of our students have started studying for final exams. This week we visited a nursing home with our readers. And spent some time there singing and encouraging the elderly at the nursing home. It was a very humbling time for our students and us. We also got the chance to visit a Chinese Museum and learn about the history of Xiamen. We also purchased English/Chinese Bibles for our students, so they can read God's Word after we leave. Thank you so much to Central Church of Christ for the donations! Now we preparing for our final Graduation/Goodbye Party for our students. Its all starting to hit us that we only have a few days here in China, sadly. So our last week, we will say our goodbyes and try to spread the Word of Christ as much as we can by continuing our English lessons. Thank you so much for everyone's support. We wish all of you could be here to see Jesus moving in China.

Our 4th week in China

This week has been very busy. Since Jerry and Harrison went back to the US, we have tried to continue reading with our readers and their readers also. We have now opened one of our Off days to read with more students so that everyone can get practice, More new students have signed up, wanting to learn more about the Bible. There is such a big need here to teach about Jesus Christ, because this culture has never been exposed to the Bible before. We also had our Luau Hawaiian party on Saturday. The students enjoyed playing limbo and taking pictures. This week we will be doing another community service project with our readers by visiting the elderly at a local nursing. Time is moving so fast, its hard to believe its been 4 weeks already. God has blessed us with so many friends here, and good times of fellowship with the local Christians. Please stay tuned for more updates and thanks for your continued support.

A summary of week 3

This past week was Harrison and Jerry final week here in China. On Monday they both headed to the airport, and made it back safely to America. Praise God! Before they left, we all had some very productive reading sessions. All the students here are still so eager to practice their English. We have many students who are interested in the bible. They ask so many good questions about the lessons that are being discussed. Their are some that are even asking how they can know more about God. God seems to really be working here to open their hearts up to his word. We celebrated T's 22nd birthday on June 1st. The people here bought her the most beautiful mango cake and sang happy birthday in Chinese. On Saturday we had our second party. This one's theme was game night. About 25 of our students were present. We sang Lord Reign in Me and Hosanna You're My King. The students all sang along and did a great job. We also split up into groups and had discussions so that everyone could get to know each other. Finally, we played Link and a game that is somewhat similar to rock, paper, scissors (except this one involved running). This Sunday we were given the opportunity to travel into Xiamen to attend the church there. There were about 50 people there. We have had such an amazing trip so far and pray that God continues to bless us. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers while we are here. God Bless

Community Service

As we mentioned in our last post, we participated in a community service project with our readers this past Saturday. This replaced our party that we would normally have on this day. Our project consisted of us and about 15 of our readers. We went to visit a center for disabled individuals. Once there, we met 2 children and 2 adults. These people were so awesome, and the woman who was over it all seemed to be such an amazing individual. You could tell she really had a passion to help these people. While we were there, we played mafia and wink. Everyone seemed to enjoy both of these activities. We are so happy that we had a chance to go and meet these very special people. -God Bless

Week Two

We are learning so much here in China. And our readers are so excited to practice their English. Melvina has a new student, who is now reading the book of Acts. He was very curious about how to become a Christian and has been asking many questions about baptism and the Holy Spirit. Melvina is so excited. We have eaten so many different things such as Black Eggs and Frog. All the food comes with Rice or Noodle. This weekend we will be doing a community service project and playing with handicapped kids. God is moving here in China. Please continue to pray that all of our readers want to know God more.

WE are made it to China!

After about 20 hours on planes, we have made it to China. Thank the Lord, our Savior.
We have 100 students that want to practice their English using the Bible. Most of them are reading the Bible for the first time. Praise God.
Most of the students are University students and are pretty cool to hang out with. We have so many things in common with them such as music and movies. They watch American movies on the internet. Melvina had the chance to read with a student who had never heard of the virgin Mary and the birth of Jesus.
Facebook is not allowed in China, so tune in on this site for our updates each week. Thank you so much.
